Anti-Anxiety Tool of the Week: Laugh and Smile
Way back in the 1980s in his book, Anatomy of an Illness, Saturday Review editor and activist Norman Cousins wrote about his use of laughter to help himself heal from an autoimmune disease. There's been a lot of research since then that supports that concept. So download some funny movies, read humorous books, look at comic strips and cartoons (Calvin and Hobbs, Zits, Dilbert and New Yorker cartoons being some personal favorites). A while ago I wrote a post on smiling and laughing if you want to read a little more on the topic.
This tool is from the first Toolkit. Here's the Index of all toolkits. And The Mini-Toolkit: For Those with Little or No Time.
A Little Lightness
With all the craziness in the world, I thought I would share a little lightness--a few of my favorite cartoons from over the years. I apologize for the appearance of some--they are are showing their age!
Until next time,
Dawn
